Welcome to the Professional Development section of ENGR 13300! In addition to the technical skills we will build throughout the semester, you will also develop the professional skills needed for success in your future engineering career. Through a variety of Professional Development assignments, you will explore the knowledge and skills that engineers use every day beyond technical problem solving.

Successful engineers are effective collaborators, communicators, and critical thinkers. They make ethical decisions, seek out and evaluate reliable information, and adapt to new and emerging technologies. Throughout this course, you will complete Professional Development assignments that explore topics including engineering majors and career pathways, professional skills, information literacy, effective teamwork, artificial intelligence in engineering, and peer evaluation through CATME. These activities are designed to help you become a more effective engineer, teammate, and learner.

This first Professional Development assignment is intended to help us get to know you and prepare you for success on your project team. You will complete an initial CATME Team Formation Survey, which helps us create balanced and effective teams, and you will tell us about a programming project you would love to build if you had the skills and resources to do so. There are no right or wrong answers; we’re interested in learning about your interests, goals, and creativity as you begin your engineering journey.

We look forward to learning more about you and supporting your growth throughout the semester!
