3.3. Individual Assignments

The purpose of this assignment is to develop students’ proficiency in using MS Excel for advanced data analysis and decision-making in engineering and technical contexts. Through hands-on experience with real-world datasets, students will learn to analyze and visualize data, clean and filter large datasets, and apply statistical tools to draw meaningful conclusions. By focusing on tasks such as assessing the strength of spot welds and analyzing weather data, students will enhance their ability to interpret technical data, utilize MS Excel’s Data Analysis ToolPak, and make evidence-based recommendations. This assignment prepares students to handle complex data challenges, reinforcing their analytical skills and their capacity to make informed decisions in professional engineering environments.

This assignment has two tasks worth 5 points each.

Successful Completion

1. Read each task carefully. You are responsible for following all instructions within each task. The table above lists everything you need to submit.

2. When your work is complete, confirm your deliverables are submitted to Gradescope.

3. Late submissions will be accepted up to 24 hours after the due date. There is a 25% penalty for late submissions.

4. Unless mentioned otherwise, for all programming tasks (Python or MATLAB), team and individual, you will be generating a flowchart.
